Counter Croak is brought to you by two brothers, one with a much greater appreciation for frogs than the other, who wish to apply their experiences from the Taiwanese defense industry to the American consumer market — providing quality ballistic solutions and all other means related to defense.
Our journey began as three guys in a garage — sometimes a storage room — cutting polyethylene composite sheets into torso shapes to stack layers and experimenting with different blends of composites produced by contracted technicians. It was the peak of the COVID pandemic and we spent much of our stay-at-home order time working with a Taiwanese contractor looking for a material to their standard. We ended up with promising composites that performed to our expectations and some exceeded them.
After a few years of this partnership, my brother and I aimed to apply our connections and experiences to fellow Americans who could benefit from our plates and materials. No longer restricted by a positive buoyancy requirement as we did in our Taiwanese contract (essentially the plate doesn’t have to float in water), we had our material autoclaved to boron carbide and brought to you the Bushveld plate. We found the highest-performing small arms ammunition that one could expect to ever be struck by today, and rated the Bushveld for it.
